Reverse nomination of Ajasin’s son, group tells Buhari

He was nominated last week by Buhari as a member of the board of the NDDC representing Ondo State. However, the nomination has attracted criticism with some people claiming that he was not from an oil-producing area of Ondo State.
The group, acting under the auspices of the Niger Delta Christian Leaders Forum, made the appeal after a meeting held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its chairman, Primate Samuel Ayodele, advised the Presidency to comply with the provision of Section 2, subsection 1 of the NDDC Act 2000 by ensuring the replacement of the nominee  with  another person from the oil-producing area of the Ilaje Local Government Area in the Ondo-South senatorial district of the state.

Ayodele argued that in Ondo State only persons from the oil-producing area were entitled to be nominated to the NDDC board, wondering why a person from the Owo Local Government Area in the Ondo-North senatorial district of the state should be nominated to occupy the position.

He said, “By our divine calling as men of God, we preach peace and pursue peace; this is why we are humbly requesting President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure strict compliance with the extant law on NDDC board membership as it affects Ondo State. Injustice anywhere is a threat to peace anywhere.”
